Welcoming a new life into the world is an awe-inspiring moment, filled with a love that’s beyond words. And there’s nothing better than freezing those first few days forever with a newborn session. To make your photoshoot is a success, and results in timeless memories, here is a guide to help you prepare for your Miami newborn photoshoot.

 

1. Timing is everything

Newborns are at their sleepiest and most cooperative within the first two weeks of life. To capture those tender, sleepy poses, we will schedule your newborn session within this window. It’s best if you reach out to your photographer while you’re still in your 2nd trimester, or at the beginning of the 3rd trimester, to make sure you can reserve a date at the best timing!

 

2. Feeding and soothing

A well-fed baby is a happy baby, and a content baby is the key to a successful photoshoot. Plan to feed your baby shortly before the session to make sure they’re settled and sleepy. Also have soothing items on hand like a pacifier to comfort your baby if needed.

 

3. Prioritize comfort

It’s important to prioritize baby’s comfort throughout the session. If we’re shooting outside, we will make sure it’s not too humid or too hot that day (outdoor newborn sessions in Miami are better during Fall or Winter). If we’re shooting at your home, make sure that it’s not too cold, and keep the house at 75 F at least. Dress your little one in comfortable clothing, and I’ll bring extra blankets and layers to keep them snug.

 

4. Relax and live the moment

Above all, remember that this photoshoot is about capturing the bond and love between you and your newborn. Take a deep breath, trust your photographer, and savor these fleeting moments. Your genuine love and joy will naturally radiate in the photographs.

 

5. Post session planning

After your newborn photoshoot, we will collaborate together to select the best images for your final prints or albums.  There’s nothing like holding your memories in your hands, and pass them down generations.
