First, choose your photographer well. There are a ton of photographers out there, but not all of them are specialized in family, motherhood, or the early years! I have been photographing babies and toddlers for the past 2 years and I have learned a lot along the way. Babies and toddlers are kind of unpredictable. They can be a happy sunshine a minute, and do a stormy tantrum the next! And I get that: there are a lot of emotions are going through their little minds! It can be scary for a photographer: you never really know what to expect!
SO, the best tip I always give my clients is: let your kids be kids. Follow your little one and let them lead the session. Have fun with them, explore with them! Show them what you found on the floor. Pick flowers together. Play in the sand. Go touch the water. Tickle them. But overall: be yourselves! When your child sees you having fun, he’ll want to have fun with you!
My sessions are lifestyle: we capture real life. And that is for a reason: I want you to get the best memories to always remember how silly and funny your babe was at this age! I send a few other tips before your session, like: make sure they are well rested and fed (I don’t recommend doing a photoshoot during baby/toddler’s nap time!). If you follow all my tips, I can assure you, we will get the best time together and capture the most beautiful and amazing memories you will always cherish (and your little one too as they grow!).
I hope this made you ready for your next photoshoot! Contact me here today to reserve your date!
